Sir Dave Brailsford has been tasked with conducting a review of Manchester United's transfer strategy amid claims Erik ten Hag will attempt to retain the final say on all signings.
Brailsford, 59, is Ineos' sporting director and the right-hand man of prospective Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has agreed a deal to acquire 25 per cent of his boyhood club from the Glazer family.
As per the terms of Ratcliffe's agreement, Ineos will take control of all sporting matters at Old Trafford with Brailsford set for a prominent role. And it has now emerged that the former cycling director will be in charge of an audit into the club's current recruitment strategy amid speculation Ratcliffe and co are planning a major overhaul.
According to a new report from The Standard, Brailsford is currently leading an audit of the transfer structure at United, although no decisions or changes are expected to be implemented imminently.
There has been plenty of speculation that Ratcliffe and Ineos will seek to appoint a new sporting director to oversee the club's recruitment strategy.
A host of adequate candidates have since been touted for a potential role, including Paul Mitchell and Newcastle's Dan Ashworth. However, it remains to be seen how such an overhaul would go down with Ten Hag.
ESPN claim that Ten Hag was granted a veto on all signings as part of the terms of his appointment in the summer of 2022 and a number of players known to the Dutchman have been acquired during his premiership.
But Ten Hag's role is currently under scrutiny after overseeing one of the worst season's in Manchester United's recent history with the club already out of Europe and in an underwhelming position in the Premier League.
