Sociedad boss Imanol labels PSG as "clear candidates" to win the Champions League

Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil, despite having been eliminated in the Champions League against PSG, stressed that "it has been an unforgettable night. I want to congratulate the fans and the players, as it wasn't easy despite the adversity and the end of the game moved me".

Alguacil made it clear in the press conference that "PSG are a very physically superior team, not to mention technically". The Real Sociedad coach also made clear the competitive level that the French team has shown this season.

 "With the level they have shown in this match, they are a serious candidate to win the Champions League," said the coach of the San Sebastian side, who put Real Sociedad's situation in context.

The 'Txuri-urdin' coach was proud, as "three weeks ago we showed in the first hour that we were capable of putting up a fight against PSG, and although we're not at our best, we'll turn the situation around".

A run of poor results that Alguacil said he was aware of: "The run is bad, but I'm relying on the attitude of the team seen in the second half to turn it around".

A run of results that can be blamed on the team's poor physical condition, as according to Alguacil, "the team is probably now paying the price for the group stage, for having reached the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey and for the day-to-day in La Liga, which is why, without wanting to look for excuses, what they have done is even more valuable".

Finally, the Basque coach looked to the future with optimism, given that "the team has shown character and pride and that's why the fans have said goodbye in the way they have. I am sure that in the future we will give a lot of value to what we have done in this edition" added Alguacil.
