The Arsenal problem Mikel Arteta must solve to win Premier League and it's not striker transfer

Arsenal are having problems scoring goals at the moment. The Gunners have managed just five in their last seven matches in all competitions and have only won one of their last five Premier League matches.

That run of form has seen them drop to fourth in the table. After their FA Cup defeat to Liverpool last time out, Arsenal have enjoyed a mini winter break, having not played last weekend as the Premier League split its fixtures across two weekends.

The Gunners have enjoyed warm weather training in Dubai ahead of this weekend's clash with Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium. In the midst of the January transfer window, things have been quiet on that front too, with no new signings to talk about as yet.

A striker would be the most logical deal to get done, given their struggles in front of goal, but Mikel Arteta himself has admitted a move this month «does not look realistic». That is despite links with the likes of Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, Borja Mayoral, Dusan Vlahovic and even Karim Benzema.

Manchester City, Tottenham and now Arsenal have all had a bit of a wobble in the Premier League title race, and one former Gunner believes there is a mentality problem at the Emirates Stadium. Speaking to Gambling Zone, William Gallas said: «Arsenal always have the same problem. When you are in that position and you are top of the Premier League at Christmas, you simply have to keep that position.

»That means every game you have to win and that’s why for me, it was unacceptable that they lost to Fulham away. It’s a problem of the players as they didn’t do their job, they weren’t good enough and it was unacceptable.
