Arsenal legend Martin Keown could not help but praise Tottenham Hotspur following their win over Brighton and Hove Albion after they stuck to their principles to pick up a crucial three points in the Premier League.
Spurs were behind at the break after Pascal Gross slotted home a spot kick following a foul by Micky van de Ven. Ange Postecoglou's side kept pressing and equalised just after the hour mark through Pape Matar Sarr.
Tottenham eventually won the game deep into stoppage time as Son Heung-min's cross was fired home by Brennan Johnson to send the home fans into raptures. Spurs fans tuning into Match of the Day may have expected some begrudging praise from former Gunner Keown but must have been surprised to see him so happy for Postecoglou's men.
Analysing the match, the 57-year-old said: «Spurs set out their philosophy, let’s pass the ball, let’s build, let’s be creative. Of course, Brighton wants to press, win it back and do that really well.
»But Spurs don’t want to be worrying about that so here they win it back and it was like: ‘Okay, let’s pass the ball again,’ passing it through the midfield but Brighton win it back again.
«There was so many turnovers and it really was a game of turnovers. Spurs kept sticking to that philosophy and Brighton were all over it because they [Spurs] were mirroring what they [Brighton] wanted to do.
