Thomas Tuchel is reportedly fighting for his job after Bayern Munich bosses were left distinctly unimpressed by his negativity after their latest defeat.
The defending Bundesliga champions fell seven points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen following a shock 1-0 home defeat to Werder Bremen on Sunday.
Speaking afterwards, ex-Chelsea boss Tuchel said he was 'tired of saying that we're training well, nobody believes that anymore.'
He went on to criticise his players by suggesting training level hadn't been up to standard 'for many weeks' before saying they deserved to lose.
According to German newspaper Bild, Tuchel's comments have gone down like a lead balloon with his bosses and he now has to prove himself worthy of his job.
It was chief executive Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic who appointed Tuchel, 50, to replace Julian Nagelsmann last March, but since have both been moved on.
However, Bild suggest history is repeating itself after Nagelsmann told his superiors last year he had run out of ideas when it came to the underperforming team.
Worse still, Tuchel made his remarks during a press conference rather than in private, which apparently has not gone down well with Bayern's board.
They have the chance to respond - and cut the gap to four points - when they host Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
The fixture is a game in hand after it was postponed because of snow at the start of December.
Tuchel certainly didn't hold back after Werder Bremen inflicted Bayern's second league loss of the campaign.
