Tim Sherwood has slammed Bukayo Saka for his 'unconvincing' penalty during Arsenal's 5-0 win over Burnley. The Gunners stormed past Vincent Kompany's side at Turf Moor on Saturday, fuelling their hopes of winning the Premier League title this season.
After Liverpool managed to secure three crucial points from their visit to the G-tech Community Stadium earlier in the afternoon, Arsenal had to play catch-up. Martin Odegaard fired the north Londoners ahead inside the opening five minutes before Saka doubled his side's lead from 12-yard shortly before half-time.
The Hale End graduate extended Arsenal's lead just moments after the break before Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz chipped in later in the tie. While Saka spurred the Gunners on to victory, Sherwood wasn't left impressed with the winger's penalty.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss described the England's international spot-kick as a 'poor penalty' despite beating James Trafford between the sticks. Sherwood said: «Then it’s up to Saka and this is not convincing.
»It’s convincing enough when it nestles behind the goalkeeper into the back of the net, but if you are an Arsenal fan, you would have had your heart in your mouth at that stage.
«It was a poor penalty. You look at the goalkeeper, he should save it. I mean, it has gone underneath his hand. But at the end of the day, it ended up in the back of the net.»
