Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal players will close out the weekend of Premier League action this evening as they take on Sheffield United. After late wins for both Liverpool and Manchester City, the Gunners must secure another yet points in order to keep pace in the title race.
On Saturday, Darwin Nunez was the hero for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest courtesy of a late winner deep into stoppage time. The following day, Phil Foden then made his mark on the Manchester Derby with a superb brace in a 3-1 comeback win against Manchester United.
Even with a victory, Arsenal would remain in third but it will close the gap to league leaders Liverpool back down to just two points with reigning champions Man City in between. While injuries have plagued Arteta this season, he will head to Bramall Lane with a squad nearing its full complement after Jurrien Timber returned to training in recent weeks.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey are also working hard to prove their fitness ahead of the game. With the clash on a Monday evening, Arteta has had a full week to prepare his players at London Colney and the latest set of training images has provided a number of injury updates ahead of the game.
Arteta has already revealed he hopes to see Timber back in action this season, and judging by what was captured in training, with images uploaded to Arsenal's official website, his step up in rehabilitation appears to be going well. After returning to the sessions held at Emirates Stadium, Timber is again pictured but this time with the squad and the ball at his feet.
