RB Leipzig are apparently willing to sanction Timo Werner’s loan to Manchester United, but only if Erik ten Hag can guarantee the striker game time.
Werner, who is returning from an adductor injury, has scored just twice in 14 outings this season and is slipping down the attacking pecking order at his club. United are set to be restricted in funds this January amid Financial Fair Play concerns and will likely need to search for loans or cut-price deals.
Werner is one of four options United are looking at, according to The Athletic. Bayern Munich duo Thomas Muller and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as well as Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy also make the shortlist.

The Mirror says that Leipzig are open to their player leaving temporarily just 18 months after arriving back at the club following a disastrous move to Chelsea. The player himself will be eyeing a place in Germany’s home Euro 2024 squad so is thought to be open to new short-term options as long as game time is assured.
Meanwhile, Turkish outlet Takvim says Fenerbahce are expected to submit a bid of £7m for Anthony Martial in the coming weeks. The attacker sees his contract expire this summer and so is permitted to speak to overseas clubs and sign pre-contract agreements.
January, then, is the last window United would be able to reap a return on the Frenchman with the club not expected to trigger his one-year extension amid his back-up status to Rasmus Hojlund.
United could be tempted to accept a bid for Martial this window to help with offsetting spending within FFP parameters.
