Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a significant boost in their hopes of finishing in the Premier League top four places this season. Ange Postecoglou's men are currently sat fourth in the table following Saturday's 2-1 win over Brighton.
Spurs have won 14 of their 24 league games this season under Postecoglou. The recent round of Premier League fixtures saw the north Londoners replace Aston Villa in the top four after Unai Emery's men lost 2-1 to Manchester United.
Tottenham are now one point ahead of Villa and six above Man United. However, with 14 Premier League games remaining, an injury to one of Villa's star players could be set to increase Spurs' hopes of bringing Champions League football back to the club.
Boubacar Kamara will miss the remainder of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained during Sunday's home defeat to United. The midfielder was replaced in the 65th minute by Moussa Diaby and scans on Monday morning have revealed the news.
A statement provided by the club read: «Aston Villa can confirm Boubacar Kamara has suffered a significant knee ligament injury. The midfielder sustained the damage during yesterday’s fixture with Manchester United and has subsequently undergone a scan this morning.
»Kamara’s condition will be reviewed ahead of a further consultation with a knee specialist."
