Tottenham Hotspur have had a massive boost in their hopes of finishing in the top four and playing Champions League football next season.
Ange Postecoglou’s men went into the game against Brighton and Hove Albion looking to get back to winning ways after conceding a 94th-minute equaliser in last week’s 2-2 draw against Everton. Ahead of the game, Spurs sat in fifth place but knew a win would see them leapfrog Aston Villa ahead of their match against Manchester United on Sunday.
Things didn't go to plan in the first half as Pascal Gross scored from the penalty spot after 17 minutes to give Brighton the lead. That is how the score stayed until half time.
Spurs equalised just over the hour mark through Pape Matar Sarr. It looked as if the game was heading for a draw with both teams taking a point, but Brennan Johnson had other ideas as he scored a 96th-minute winner to spark wild celebrations at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The result moved Spurs up to fourth. With that in mind, here is a look at the fixtures coming up for the current top six as the race for the top four hots up.
