It has been revealed why Tottenham Hotspur's clash against Nottingham Forest this weekend has been brought forward. The Lilywhites will welcome Nuno Espírito Santo's side to north London on Sunday as either side hopes to climb the Premier League table.
Spurs head into the clash following a disappointing 1-1 draw with West Ham, meanwhile, Forest enjoyed a 3-1 win over Fulham at the City Ground. While Postecoglou's side lost ground in the race for Champions League qualification on Tuesday evening, they're only two points behind Aston Villa, who are fourth.
Tottenham also have a game in hand. As for Nuno's side, they're just three points clear of the relegation zone, with Luton Town snapping away at their heels. So, there's certainly a lot to play for this weekend.
Unfortunately for the thousands of supporters who pre-booked their travel, kick-off has been brought forward to 18:00 GMT on Sunday, March 7. The tie was originally meant to take place at 8pm on Monday, April 8, but rail and tube strikes saw it brought forward.
Greater Anglia, c2c, GTR Great Northern Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern/Gatwick Express and South Western Railway are all set to be hit this weekend. The game will continue to be shown on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.
A Tottenham statement read: «This decision has been taken on the recommendation of an emergency Safety Advisory Group (SAG) meeting — chaired by Haringey Council and including representatives from the Club, emergency services, transport partners and the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust — and in agreement with the Premier League, on the basis that only one of the six stations that serve our stadium will be running normally on April 8.
