William Saliba admits Arsenal were determined to triumph in the second half of their match against Brentford, despite a blunder from keeper Aaron Ramsdale. The Gunners managed to secure a late victory thanks to a goal from Kai Havertz in the final five minutes.
This win pushed them to the top of the Premier League while they watch for the result of the Liverpool and Manchester City game. Ramsdale was back in the starting lineup as usual number 1 David Raya couldn't play against his loan team.
However, he made a significant mistake by taking too long to clear the ball, which allowed Yoane Wissa to slide in and score an equaliser for Brentford. Despite this, Saliba insists everyone can make mistakes — including him.
He supports his team fully and believes they will always do their best to turn around any errors. Talking to beIN Sports [via The Mirror], he said: «We said we have to come out in the second half to win.
»Everyone has made mistakes, in the last month I made two mistakes and my team saved me… so second half is the reverse, because they had three good chances and he saved us, so that's a good mentality from the team."
Ramsdale hasn't played much this season, and it showed when he tried to play the ball from the back like Arsenal usually does. But he made up for it with some great saves later on.
