Arsenal legend David Seaman has spoken out about Aaron Ramsdale's future, saying he doesn't want to see him leave the club but thinks he might be 'too good to be a No. 2'.
Last summer, Arsenal loaned David Raya from Brentford, which made people question Ramsdale's future at the club, even though he seemed to be Mikel Arteta's first choice as goalkeeper. Ramsdale, who cost Arsenal £30 million in 2021, has only played six Premier League games this season, despite Raya's shaky start.
Ramsdale was given a rare chance to play against Brentford last weekend, and he would have been keen to do well with the European Championships coming up soon. But he made a mistake when he took too long with the ball and let Yoane Wissa score just before half-time, after Declan Rice had given the Gunners the lead.
Despite this, Arsenal won the match thanks to a late goal from Kai Havertz, and Ramsdale played a big part in the win by stopping shots from Ivan Toney and Nathan Collins. Seaman, who watched the match from Ramsdale's box at the Emirates, admitted that the goalkeeper's slip-up at the end of the first half was a 'really bad mistake'.
