What Jordan Henderson said about Aston Villa taunts as former Liverpool man suffers Europa League nightmare
Jordan Henderson was loudly booed by Aston Villa fans as the Ajax midfielder endured a night to forget in the Europa Conference League.
The former Liverpool star was named in Ajax’s starting line-up for their clash with the Midlands side on Thursday evening. However, his side were beaten 4-0 at Villa Park.
Henderson, who joined Ajax in January after cutting short his spell in Saudi Arabia, was loudly booed by Villa supporters ahead of kick-off, while it was a similar theme throughout the game. He had also been booed at Wembley in October by England fans.

And reacting to the boos at full-time, Henderson said: "It doesn't affect me, no. This is football. Aston Villa is a fantastic club, great fans. I wish them all the best."
Before he added: "Tough game. It is hard to stand here and put it into words straight after the game. We were beaten quite easily in the end. I felt we could cause them problems and then we concede a second, which was poor from us, then it is tough from that point to get the game back.
"Injuries and everything seemed to go wrong from then. If we'd kept it at 1-0 for a bit longer I felt we could've hurt them but we're well beaten in the end."
Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey, Jhon Duran and Moussa Diaby were all on target for Unai Emery's side, while Ajax ended the game with ten men following Sivert Mannsverk's red card on 66 minutes.
On the red card, Henderson told TNT Sports: "I thought it was harsh, but again I'm not going to make it an excuse. That was a difficult moment for us, that and conceding the second.
