TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan believes the fault for Liverpool's VAR controversy lies with referees, not the technology itself, and feels the club's follow-up statement won't have any impact.

Although the former Crystal Palace owner conceded human errors are natural occurrences, he could not defend referee Simon Hooper for allowing the match to continue without rectifying the mistake at the first opportunity.

"The protocol of the current rules are once the game has kicked off, you have to get on with it. Someone had to break protocol in the better interests of the game, had to be prepared to take the wrath of working for the PGMOL, break protocol and live with that in the better interests of the game.
"I bet they'd have been supported by [Howard] Webb. Leadership - there is not enough of it."
