Ian Wright is set for a new punditry gig as he prepares to join Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football tonight. The Arsenal legend will be part of the Sky Sports broadcasting team covering Chelsea’s home clash with West Ham United.
It was announced in December that Wright would be stepping down from his with BBC’s Match of the Day at the end of the season. Wright made his debut on the programme while still an Arsenal player in 1997, telling former presenter Des Lynam: “This is my Graceland, Des. I love it.”
Explaining his reasons for leaving the programme, Wright wrote on X: “This decision has been coming for a while, maybe my birthday earlier this year fast tracked it a little, but ultimately it’s time to do a few more different things with my Saturdays. I’m really looking forward to my last months on the show and covering what will hopefully be an amazing Premier League title race.”

However, Wright will not be stepping away from punditry altogether. At the start of the season, he was announced as a co-host on The Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast, sponsored by Sky Bet. The Arsenal legend is joined by Sky Sports regulars Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Jill Scott and Carragher; presenting Monday Night Football with the latter tonight.
It is not the first time that Wright has worked for Sky Sports, either, having previously presented The Debate show alongside Kelly Cates. The broadcasting duo currently co-host the Kelly and Wrighty Show for Premier League Productions, which airs internationally.
