Abdallah Sima is feeling like the daddy for Rangers after ending his scoring drought. And the first-time father now hopes there will be more goals to come as he seeks to make his new daughter proud.
The Senegalese ace and his girlfriend Mama welcomed Fanta into the world last week, with Sima learning that having to balance his duties at Ibrox with 3am nappy changes isn’t the child’s play he first thought. Boss Philippe Clement reckons it’s taken a toll on the on-loan Brighton ace after suggesting the sleepless nights caring for the new arrival was the reason for Sima’s tired displays during last week’s draws against Aberdeen and Aris Limassol.
But against St Mirren on Sunday, Sima was back at it, stroking home a clinical double to end an eight-game run without a goal. Now he’s aiming for more which he plans to dedicate to the latest member of the Sima clan. He said: “This is my first time as a dad. It’s changed my life. Now I have more responsibilities so I have to work more and make my daughter proud.
“Her name is Fanta, she’s named after my mum. My mum is everything so I want to give my daughter the same name.
“It’s not been easy for me the last week. Someone said to me that having a new baby would be hard but I said, ‘No worries, I’ll do it’. But after one week I know just how hard it is to be a dad!
“My girlfriend is called Mama and I’m just so lucky to have these girls now in my life. I’m really happy with how life is going here. I’m really enjoying every moment. We’ve had a lot of help from the club. They’ve helped me a lot and been really good with me and my partner.
