The Ange Postecoglou era may have started with a defeat but the new Tottenham boss can take many positives from their 3-2 loss against West Ham. Playing some excellent football at times and registering 32 shots on goal across the 90 minutes, Spurs had more than enough opportunities to win the game.
Going in at the break two goals down, Tottenham, who changed all 11 players at half-time, really took the game to the Hammers and put them under intense pressure. Giovani Lo Celso, on his return to Spurs from his Villarreal loan spell, played a pivotal role in the second half and deservedly got a goal to his name.
Just not hitting the heights in his four seasons at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with injury playing a big part in his woes, Lo Celso's second-half performance was a reminder of just why he was brought to the club in the summer of 2019 after excelling for Real Betis. Operating on the left of Tottenham's midfield three, the Argentine was involved in all of Spurs' best play and always looked to make things happen in the final third.
There was one bit of play from the Argentina international that even resulted in Postecoglou applauding him. Having clocked a gap in the West Ham backline to put Richarlison in on goal, Lo Celso executed it to perfection as he split the defence but his teammate unfortunately couldn't apply the finishing touch as he struck the post.
The boss was very pleased with the play between his two players and TV cameras did spot him clapping the duo for creating the chance. Richarlison would later return the favour for Lo Celso but the ball wouldn't come down for the midfielder to get his shot away in the box, thus resulting in him playing in the former Everton man who saw his shot deflected wide for a
