Ange Postecoglou provides fresh Manor Solomon Tottenham update after five-month injury layoff

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Manor Solomon «still has a bit of a way to go» when it comes to training with the Tottenham first-team squad again. Joining the club in the summer and making an impact in games earlier in the season, the winger has not featured for Spurs since the win over Liverpool in late September.

Leading up to the away game at Luton Town at the beginning of October, Spurs revealed in a statement that Solomon had gone under the knife after suffering a meniscus injury to his right knee in training. Looking set to be out for between three to four months, it is now five months since the 24-year-old was last on the pitch for the Lilywhites.

Speaking to the media ahead of the home game against Brighton & Hove Albion in early February, Postecoglou did mention that the player had unfortunately suffered another setback. He said: «He had another procedure on Monday on his knee. Nothing major but we're looking at another two or three weeks for him.»

Having now spent five months watching on from the stands as the team push for a Champions League finish, Postecoglou was asked by football.london in his press conference on Friday if Solomon is any closer to a return to training with his teammates.

«Manor is sort of progressing but is still not anywhere near rejoining the group. He still has a bit of a way to go,» said the Australian.
