Melvin Koliqi has claimed it is his dream to play for Chelsea. The 17-year-old midfielder will be hoping to make his senior debut for IFK Goteborg ace outfit this year, with the Swedish top flight set to kick off at the end of March.
Goteborg escaped the relegation play-off spot by just one point last season, so Koliqi will be determined to guide his boyhood club to safety once more. Ahead of what could be a career-defining campaign for the youngster, he's revealed that it's his dream to play for the Blues in the Premier League.
«I dream of playing in the Premier League with Chelsea, it’s my favourite team,» Koliqi told Swedish newspaper Alingsås Tidning, as quoted by Sport Witness. If the Albanian were to swap Gothenburg for west London in the summer then he'd join the long list of teenagers signed by the Blues since the new ownership took over in May 2022.
In the last two years or so, Chelsea have gone out of their way to sign as many of the most exciting young players in the world. During Todd Boehly's first summer at Stamford Bridge, the Blues got their hands on an influx of teenagers; Eddie Beach, Omari Hutchinson, Cesare Casadei, Zak Sturge, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina.
Then, in January, Chelsea wrapped up deals for Andrey Santos, Malo Gusto and Jimmy-Jay Morgan before welcoming seven more youngsters in the summer; Romeo Lavia, Angelo Gabriel, Lesley Ugochukwu, Deivid Washington, Diego Moreira, Alex Matos, Dujuan Richards and Ishe Samuels-Smith.
