Arsenal could be faced with an unexpected transfer decision after Nottingham Forest were charged with breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations (PSR). Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were one of two clubs alleged to have broken the rules, alongside Everton.
Forest embarked on an unprecedented transfer signing spree after earning promotion, via the play-offs, in 2022. In total, the East Midlands club have recruited 43 players since returning to the top-flight and sold star asset Brennan Johnson to Tottenham in the summer in an effort to balance the books.
Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares was one of the players Forest brought in on loan during the previous transfer window as the Gunners aimed to find him regular minutes in the top-flight. The 23-year-old featured in Forest’s first three league games but has since been limited to a sole FA Cup appearance and could find himself back at Arsenal before the end of the month.

A report from The Telegraph explains that Forest are adopting a ‘cautious’ approach during the January transfer window after being charged with a PSR breach. This will involve efforts to move on a series of fringe players, with Tavares’ loan move mentioned as one situation that will be ‘reviewed’ towards the end of the transfer window.
