Motherwell goal hero Mika Biereth played through the pain barrier to snatch a point against St Johnstone at the death, and said he wanted to help his team-mates.
The Danish forward on loan from Arsenal arguably saved Stuart Kettlewell’s job as Well boss with a bullet header from a Theo Bair cross two minutes into stoppage time, cancelling out Bevis Mugabi’s 53rd-minute own-goal.
But Biereth says his side will fight their way out of trouble in the Premiership, because there isn’t a toxic environment like he would expect in their current run of 13 Premiership games without a win.
After scoring his sixth goal of the season, Biereth limped upstairs to talk to the waiting press at Fir Park and said: “You can’t shy away from things like this – we are under pressure as a group.
“But I can’t tell you how together we are in this changing room.
“You see players playing through injuries and we have a lot of injuries out, too.
“But everyone has stuck together and just playing for as long as we can.
“I had a knock in the 30th minute and I’m a bit bruised, but I didn’t want to leave my team-mates out there.
“They asked if I wanted to come off and I said ‘no’.
“I stayed on, because I think I have that quality to try and get us something in the game.
“Even if I can’t run at 100 per cent, even if it’s in the 90th, 95th or 98th minute, I want to stay on that pitch for as long as I can.
“For me, it’s about scoring goals and as many as I can to help the team.”
Biereth added: “We got the point in the end, but would’ve liked three.
“Everyone is out there doing everything they can as a team.
“We showed great character to come back in the 90th minute.
“We’ve done it a lot of times.
“This shows how together the group is and that we have that quality.
