Arsenal 'pushing' to complete summer transfer for Liverpool target with £42m release clause
Arsenal are reportedly pushing to sign Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams amid interest from the Premier League.
The Gunners have struggled for some time in the final third this season and, prior to the winter break last month, they had scored just five times in seven games. Following January's training camp in Dubai, they have scored over three times as many goals in three fewer games.
Bukayo Saka has been Arsenal's top scorer, scoring four goals in the last four games, while Gabriel Martinelli,Leandro Trossard and Gabriel have scored three goals each. William Saliba, Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus have also been on the scoresheet.
However, there have been questions over whether the club may need a new forward in the summer.Ivan Toney has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, but Arsenal weren't prepared to splash the cash in the winter window in order to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
But the summer could be a different story. «We are going to have to nail the recruitment, because we know that we are going to have play a different level and the demands are going to be even higher,» Mikel Arteta said at the end of last season.
It could be important in terms of outgoings too as a few players will enter the final 12 months of their contracts. To help Arsenal improve their goal scoring problems ahead of next season, the club hierarchy have been looking at different options within the Premier League according to reports.
