Arsenal have been told why Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz would be the «perfect» signing for the club.
Luiz moved to Villa from Manchester City in 2019 for a reported fee of £15 million. He has since gone on to make 185 appearances with 19 goals during his time at Villa Park.
The past couple of years have seen the Gunners heavily linked with signing Luiz, but he has opted to remain with Villa despite the speculation. The 25-year-old signed a long-term contract with Villa in October 2022 that keeps him at the club until 2026.
Arsenal spent more than £200 million on signing new players last summer. One of those deals included £105 million to sign Declan Rice from West Ham. Rice has formed a partnership alongside Martin Odegaard in the Gunners midfield this season, with Kai Havertz, Jorginho and Emile Smith Rowe also being used in the middle of the park.
Collymore, who scored 14 goals in 59 appearances across three years with Villa, believes Luiz would be an ideal addition to Arsenal's squad. The former striker explained why he is predicting Luiz to leave Villa Park in the near future.
«I think Douglas [Luiz] is a player that could end up moving on from Villa,» Collymore told Genting Casino. «I know that he has been linked with a move to Arsenal over the last few transfer windows, and I think he would suit them perfectly.
