After a long barren period in the final third, Arsenal have finally rediscovered their goal scoring the touch. Prior to the winter break in January the Gunners had scored just five times in seven games. Since the warm weather training camp in Dubai, they have over three times as many goals, in three fewer games.
Key to this has been Arsenal's ability to spread the goals around. Bukayo Saka has been their top scorer in their last four games with four goals, but Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel all have three each, while William Saliba, Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus have also chipped in with one a piece.
This has led to suggestions that the Gunners may not need a new forward in the summer. «I just think that… there was a massive discussion about 'does Arsenal need a No.9?' What they needed to do is put the ball in the back of the net,» Thierry Henry said on CBS Sports Golazo.
«When Arsenal does put the ball in the back of the net it's 6-0. In every game it could have been the same — in the cup against Liverpool they didn't do it, they did it with a bit of help in the league from Liverpool — but when Arsenal are on point and put the ball in the back of the net, it doesn't matter who plays.
»Trossard will score, Declan Rice has been scoring, Gabriel has been scoring, so it doesn't really matter. If we turn our opportunities into goals, we are going to be — I think — a very difficult team to beat."
