Barcelona squad "doesn't lack ambition", claims Ter Stegen
FC Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen was neither satisfied nor displeased with the goalless draw at San Mames, in a game in which he admitted that his side did not get "enough into Unai Simon's box" to win it.
"They were pressing high, but it wasn't a very intense pressing and they let us play. We were able to overcome it, but it cost us a bit when we got to the other side of the pitch," he admitted to the 'Movistar LaLiga' microphones.
"Neither one thing nor the other. We were going for the win, in the end it wasn't to be. We didn't get enough in the box. It's always very complicated to get a draw here, which I think is better for them than for us," he added, when asked if he thought it was more of a missed opportunity than a good result.
The German goalkeeper lamented the injuries to Frenkie de Jong and Pedri Gonzalez, both before half-time. "We started with a good feeling, but having two key players injured always hurts, although the lads who came on did well. I hope it's nothing serious in both cases," said the German.
Ter Stegen, asked about whether Barca lack ambition, did not hide his anger. "It's hard for me not to answer badly because what this dressing room doesn't lack is ambition. I don't like people talking about this. It wasn't possible, but we tried until the end", he explained.
