Luton’s game at Bournemouth that was abandoned after Tom Lockyer’s cardiac arrest is likely to be replayed in its entirety, talkSPORT understands.
The Premier League board will hold discussions with both clubs next week to decide the way forward after Saturday’s distressful scenes at the Vitality Stadium.
Under Premier league rules any match abandoned by the referee can be replayed from the start and it is unlikely either team will contest that decision.
The score was level at 1-1 at the time of the incident, with the Luton Town captain being taken to hospital after being stretchered off.
Both teams agreed to abandon play at the Vitality Stadium and the Premier League will decide on the next course of action next week.
There are three options available to the Premier League.
They could replay the entire match, resume play from the point the match was abandoned or declare the result of the match being what it was at the time of abandonment.
talkSPORT understands that the most likely option will be to replay the entire match and a date will be announced in time when both teams are available.
Luton have since confirmed that Lockyer is stable and will undergo further tests.
The club posted the following update on X, formerly known as Twitter: «Our medical staff have confirmed that the Hatters captain suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch, but was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher.
