Brennan Johnson deal, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg exit and Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham dilemma
Time is running out for Tottenham Hotspur to complete the finishing touches to their 2023 summer transfer business.
Nottingham Forest and Wales forward Brennan Johnson is on the verge of completing his permanent transfer to north London, football.london understands. The 22-year-old will join Ange Postecoglou's side for a deal worth upwards of £45million and has been at Hotspur Way training ground to undergo his medical this afternoon.
Johnson was Postecoglou's main attacking priority signing heading into the final weeks of the window. He has started in all three of Forest's Premier League games this season. Should the deal be completed before the deadline, he will be made to wait until after the international break to make his debut.
One player who is increasingly unlikely to move to north London is Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. The England international looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge despite Spurs' efforts to sign him. football.london understands that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's future at the club is key in any move, with the Danish midfielder reportedly turning down interest from Fulham.
Atletico Madrid's reported loan approach for Hojbjerg failed to match Tottenham's valuation of the midfielder. And with time ticking down, it's incredibly unlikely that both players will seal a switch this late.
Another blow in terms of incomings is the Lilywhites' move for Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly. The 24-year-old was subject to a £20million offer earlier in the day and as time has gone on, the Cherries have become increasingly reluctant to let the defender leave this late in the window.
