Daniel Levy can strengthen a key position for Ange Postecoglou in the January transfer market and also save Tottenham millions in the process
The Premier League transfer window may have only just come to a close but Tottenham fans will already have one eye on the winter market. Making a number of changes over the course of the summer with players coming and going, Spurs still have plenty to do as Daniel Levy bids to give Ange Postecoglou the best possible squad to challenge on all fronts.
Despite the Premier League summer window closing for business at 11pm last Friday, Tottenham have still sanctioned three exits this week with Davinson Sanchez, Tanguy Ndombele and Maksim Paskotsi all departing. With defenders Sanchez and Paskotsi bidding farewell to N17 for good after sealing permanent moves to Galatasaray and Grasshopper Zurich respectively, there is a chance Ndombele could still return as his switch to Galatasaray is a loan deal with an option to buy.
Now having to wait until January to bring in a replacement for Sanchez, the club have plenty of time to identify their target and then strike as soon as the transfer window opens for business. Spurs were linked with a few defenders over the course of the summer, including Edmond Tapsoba, Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly.
Both players are out of contract come the end of the 2023/24 season, thus meaning their respective clubs may have no option but to cash in on them in January rather than risk losing them for nothing in the summer. That could all change though if either of them extends their contract beyond the summer of 2024.
