Ivan Toney makes major announcement amid Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham transfer links
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has delivered a hint over his future following recent links with both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Toney scored 20 Premier League goals for the Bees last season, leading the 27-year-old to make his England debut. He is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching the FA’s betting regulations but could become the centre of a transfer battle in January, when his suspension is lifted.
Chelsea are one club that is ‘considering’ a winter move for the prolific goalscorer, according to the the Evening Standard, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side hunt for back-up to new arrival Nicolas Jackson. Spurs have also been touted with signing Toney to fill the Harry-Kane-shaped hole in their squad, despite bringing in Brennan Johnson for £47.5m on deadline day.
Brentford are reportedly aware of potential interest in their star striker and have placed an £80m price tag on the England international. However, Toney has hinted that he may be looking elsewhere by recently announcing that he has signed with Jonathan Barnett’s CAA Stellar Agency, who count Jack Grealish and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga among their clients.
