Cheick Doucoure shuts down transfer talk with long-term Crystal Palace contract

Cheick Doucoure has decided to extend his stay at Crystal Palace by signing a new contract that will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2029.

The 24-year-old star from Mali has been sidelined since November due to an Achilles injury he picked up during a Premier League match against Luton.

Doucoure has made quite an impression since his move from Lens to south London in 2022, even bagging the title of Palace's player of the year in his debut season.

Despite his injury keeping him from playing under new Eagles boss Oliver Glasner, Doucoure has shown his commitment to the club by securing his future with them — shutting down any talk of a transfer in the process.

Liverpool were among the sides thought to be monitoring the midfielder, with Manchester United and Arsenal also linked with a move, but Doucoure hasn't had his head turned.

“I’m really happy to commit my future to Crystal Palace – I’ve enjoyed my time here so much already,” he said,

“We have a great group here, and I’m looking forward to getting back on the pitch as quickly as possible to play in front of the supporters of this fantastic football club.”

Palace chairman Steve Parish added: «It is brilliant news that Cheick, who was such an outstanding performer for us last season, has signed this new contract.

»We have no doubt that, after such a fantastic start to life in red and blue, Cheick will continue to progress as a player in the years to come."
