Chelsea team news vs Aston Villa: Nkunku decision, Jackson starts, Sterling dropped
Mauricio Pochettino has made three changes to the Chelsea side for their clash with Aston Villa tonight. The Blues are looking to make it through to the FA Cup fifth round, where the winner will host Leeds United, in the fourth round replay this evening.
Raheem Sterling, Thiago Silva and Christopher Nkunku have all dropped out of the team, with Noni Madueke, Benoit Badiashile and Nicolas Jackson replacing them. Djordje Petrovic keeps his place in goal, with the Serbian goalkeeper continuing to impress.
Malo Gusto and Ben Chilwell are the full-backs for the second successive match. Silva, however, is being given a rest, with Badiashile looking to return to form in his place.
It is the usual midfield trio of Moises Caicedo, Conor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez despite a below-par performance on Sunday. Then in attack, Madueke comes into the side for Sterling, while Jackson replaces Nkunku as the No.9.
Despite his side's recent form, that has seen them concede eight goals in two matches against Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the last seven days, Pochettino is continuing to show immense faith in his players. In fact, the Argentine is saying he has more trust «than ever» in his young squad.
«I told the players in a meeting today that I trust you more than ever,» Pochettino said on Tuesday. «I am going to support you more than ever.
