Manchester City got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Brentford at the Etihad on Tuesday night.
Oscar Bobb, John Stones and Bernardo Silva came in as City's three changes from the draw with Chelsea a few days ago, as Kevin de Bruyne was surprisingly named on the bench.
Yoane Wissa made his first start for the Bees for the first time since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, as the visitors looked repeat last season's heroics at the Etihad.
Brentford were sat quite deep in their own for most of the half, but had a couple openings on the counter-attack but Wissa and Ivan Toney were unabele to profie in the final third.
City, meanwhile, had some big chances of their own in the final ten minutes of the first half, with young Bobb going closest with his strike cleared on the line by Brentford's Ben Mee.
With the Citizens struggling to break down the Brentford defence in the second half, coach Pep Guardiola made his first change on the hour mark as Jeremy Doku replaced the young Bobb.
The Citizens got their reward in the 71st minute after Erling Haaland collected a pass from Julian Alvarez and after a slip from Kristoffer Ajer, he ran in on goal and placed the ball beyond Mark Flekken.
City had the ball in the back of the net for a second time with 11 minutes to play via the head Haaland, but the goal was chalked off after Kyle Walker was deemed to have been offside when playing the cross.
