Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Brazilian wonderkid Angelo Gabriel from Santos as the 18-year-old winger puts pen to paper on a switch to the club.
Despite his age, Gabriel has plenty of experience under his belt with 129 first-team appearances since breaking into the first-team for the Brazilian club. The youngster often plays on the right wing, but is heavily left-footed and will often cut inside to cause chaos for the opposition.
Such was his promise as a young player, Gabriel became the youngest ever player to play in the Brazil national championship at just 15-years-old. Reports have claimed that the Blues have spent £13million to add the Brazilian to their ranks, who joins on a long-term contract.
The deal continues the plans laid out by Todd Boehly and the rest of the new ownership in creating a club that is sustainable for years to come. It has led to an emphasis on young players and ensuring there is a pathway towards playing for the first-team, as shown by the moves behind the scenes.
The Boehly-Clearlake consortium have established the first plans of a multi-club model by acquiring French side RC Strasbourg, which could allow for some development for other young players in the future. Signings such as Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, Kendry Paez and Nicolas Jackson outlines the desire to land the best young talent available.

Gabriel only adds to that growing list of stars that could break into the team in the near future, though questions remain over the implementation. The Athletic reports that duo Omari Hutchinson and Harvey Vale won't be part of the US pre-season tour for the Blues this summer.
