Cape Town City were dealt a blow when their only signing in the January transfer window Prins Tjiueza failed his medical at the club ahead of his proposed move from Kosovo side Liria Prizren.
Tjiueza, 21, limped out of Namibia’s 3-0 loss to Angola at the Africa Cup of Nations midway through the first half with an ankle injury.
A medical assessment of the injury suggested it would take three months to heal, which would be towards the end of the DStv Premiership season.
“We will look at it again in the next window, but he would barely have played this season,” a City official told SuperSport.com.
The Cape Town club, who are currently second in the table, had hoped Tjiueza would be a replacement for Juan Zapata, who left the club last month after an unsuccessful 12 months in the Mother City.
The club also announced last week that they have parted ways with experienced midfielder Thato Mokeke.
City are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Chippa United in the league.
