Porto coach Sergio Conceicao on Tuesday accused Mikel Arteta of insulting him during their Champions League match, which Arsenal deny. According to the Portuguese coach, Arteta insulted his bench in Spanish during the match.
"He turned to the bench during the match and insulted my family in Spanish. I told him that the person he insulted is no longer with us," the Portuguese manager said at the post-match press conference, in which Arsenal progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a penalty shoot-out.
"He should focus on coaching his team. The result was unfair, we deserved to go through," he added. Arsenal sources told 'EFE' that it is not true that Arteta insulted Conceicao and pointed out that it is not the first time that such a situation has arisen with the Porto boss, who has already accused Thomas Tuchel of similar actions, among others.
Arteta was asked at a press conference about the confrontation with the Portuguese after the game and declined to comment.
