Liverpool defender Conor Bradley slides in to make a tackle against Fulham
Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley says he’s not looking to be Trent Alexander-Arnold 2.0 as he looks to enhance his bid for playing time with Liverpool in the right-back’s absence.
The 20-year-old from Castlederg made just his fifth senior start in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup Semi-Final first leg win over Fulham and was named man of the match as he helped Jurgen Klopp’s side to a come from behind 2-1 win at Anfield.
It looks like Bradley is set for an extended run in the starting line-up with Liverpool after Alexander-Arnold suffered a knee injury in their FA Cup third round win over Arsenal at the weekend.
But after impressing from the bench at the Emirates, and then starring against Fulham, it seems likely that the former Dungannon Swifts star will be the one to start their next three games.
Klopp’s men head to Bournemouth for a Premier League tie on January 21 before their Carabao Cup Semi-Final second leg at Fulham and their FA Cup fourth round tie against either Norwich City or Bristol Rovers.
And Bradley insists he is not trying to replicate Alexander-Arnold’s style of play in the Liverpool squad, rather bring his own stamp to the team in a bid to nail down a starting spot of his own.
“Trent is probably the best right-back in the world at the minute, if not the best player in the world the way he’s playing. So he’s a big miss for us, but I just tried to do everything I could to fill in for him. And thankfully we got the win,” said the 13-times capped international.
“Obviously I’m not Trent Alexander-Arnold, so I’m just going to play my game and just contribute what I can to the team. Hopefully that does us well."
