Spotify owner Daniel Ek has continued to follow Arsenal despite being unsuccessful in an attempt to buy the club in 2021. Coming at perhaps the lowest point of Stan Kroenke's time as guardian, the Swedish billionaire was considered popular.
«As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember,»' he tweeted. «If KSE [Kroenke Sports and Entertainment] would like to sell Arsenal, I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring.»
He has since gone on to strike a huge deal with Barcelona. Spotify agreed to a huge £235million deal with the Catalan side last year over the naming rights for Nou Camp. During the fallout from the European Super League shambles in April 2021, he was one figure that gained a lot of attention.
Club legend Thierry described Ek as being serious about a possible takeover. «To be able to get there [a sale], you need to have someone respond on the other side,» he explained.
«It hasn't happened yet, but we and he is here to stay. So, let's see what's going to happen. But for the moment, we enjoyed the win yesterday.
»There's no dialogue at the moment and I feel it's going to be a long process. I said this the last time I was on the show [Monday Night Football]. How long it's going to be, I don't actually know. But we are here to stay."
