David Moyes has set a lofty goal for his team following their loss to Bayer Leverkusen. The West Ham boss has challenged his squad to win all five of their remaining Premier League fixtures to ensure they qualify for Europe next season.
Next up for the Hammers is Crystal Palace, who are riding high off the back of an impressive 1-0 triumph at Anfield. Despite the disappointing exit from the Europa League, there's no time for sorrow as Sunday's match looms large.
Maintaining a solid stance, Moyes said: «We need to win every game now to give ourselves a chance of getting back into Europe, we need to. You can only win your next game so let's see what happens. We will try and win our next game and see if we can hang in there.»
Uncertainty also surrounds Moyes' tenure at the club, with his current contract due to expire this summer. While initial talks held in December suggested Moyes was set to sign a new two-year deal, recent rumours have cast a shadow over his future at West Ham.
Faced with questions about his own career plans, Moyes told the Mirror: «I have nothing to announce. I am happy. We are just getting on with the job. We are playing games. We have five left to play. We will get on with it. I said there was no real big rush to do anything and I still feel that way.»
West Ham are set to welcome back Lucas Paqueta and Emerson from suspension for their upcoming match at Selhurst Park, with further high-profile clashes against Liverpool and challenging away games at Chelsea and Manchester City on the horizon before their European destiny is revealed.
