Mamelodi Sundowns gunman Peter Shalulile will have two personal achievements to chase this season beyond the three trophies still on offer to play for.
While priority is on lifting his fourth consecutive DStv Premiership, second Nedbank Cup, and ultimately his first CAF Champions League, there are two other targets to chase for Shalulile.
Downs back on top after Tshwane Derby victory
Top of the list is the all-time top scorer’s milestone of 123 goals currently held by retired striker Siyabonga Nomvete.
The Namibian now has 110 goals to his name playing for South African topflight league club.
These goals are minus those that he piled up while playing in the first division for Highlands Park where he scored 22 goals in the two years that he spent playing there.
In reaching 110 goals, Shalulile is now tied with Daniel Mudau and Mabhuti Khenyeza.
Mudau’s total only includes goals scored in the PSL era years.
The Sundowns legend scored another 70 in the NSL era which is inclusive of the seven that he scored while out on loan at Ratanang Moholosiane in 1992.
Second on the list for Shalulile is reaching 100 goals playing for Sundowns and join Mudau in being the only other player to ever reach that mark.
Shalulile has scored 83 so far for The Brazilians and is on course to reaching the fasted century ever recorded by a player attached to a South African top league club.
The 30-year-old has only been at Sundowns since September 2020 having joined after scoring 27 goals at Highlands Park while they were a top league club.
