England Euro 2024 groups: Best and worst-case scenarios analysed ahead of draw
England will go into next summer's European Championships in Germany as one of the favourites to be victorious on July 14. Gareth Southgate's side have arguably the best group of players, with the current group touted to be the next 'Golden Generation'.
The Three Lions ended their qualifying campaign with two lacklustre displays against Malta and North Macedonia. Despite the uninspiring November international break, England finished top of their group — six points above Italy.
Southgate's men have secured a spot in pot one ahead of the draw, meaning they will avoid coming up against Germany, France, Portugal, Spain and Belgium in the group stage.
The draw for the group will be made on December 2 in Hamburg and supporters will be hoping that the Three Lions could secure another kind draw. In the last Euros, England faced Croatia, Scotland and Czech Republic in the group stages before facing Iran, Wales and USA in the Qatar World Cup.
However, on the other side of the coin, England could face a potential nightmare early exit. The European Champions, Italy, are among the bottom seeds in pot four while Croatia, World Cup 2018 runners-up, are in pot three.

In an ideal world, the Three Lions will avoid all the potential banana skins in the group stage. In line with FIFA's World Rankings, the best group would be: Albania, Slovenia and Kazakhstan.
There is also the possibility of Romania or Turkey being drawn from Pot 2, who you'd expect England to beat with little trouble. Pot 3, arguably, is stronger
