It seems very little time passes in the Premier League before we're having the same ridiculous debate again. Do teams, and Arsenal are one of the clubs for whom this accusation gets levelled a lot, over celebrate goals?
Football is about scoring goals. Always has been, always will be. It's what the sport is all about. To suggest that enjoying the moment of scoring a goal has become too much, is ludicrous.
I am a writer, that's why you're reading these words. Getting people to read my words, or the words of my writers, is what it's all about and I have been known to clench a first when something I've written is well read. It's human nature to take joy from the good things we do.
There is enough pain and suffering in the world that people should not be lambasted for taking joy out of something good that comes around. And in football, the good is generally scoring goals.
Let's take a look at Arsenal and the most recent example of this over celebrating malarkey. The scene is the Emirates Stadium, the occasion is the North London Derby, perhaps the biggest game in any Gunners' fan's season.
There's a nervous energy around the stadium, such is the magnitude of the match for supporters. Bukayo Saka, Arsenal's starboy, has just scored from the spot to put the home side 2-1 up and the stadium has gone into raptures. Saka, goes over to a section of the fans and celebrates with them. His entire team (David Raya apart) join him for a massive celebration.
