Gary Neville issues fresh Premier League title race verdict as Arsenal problem emerges

Gary Neville has issued a fresh verdict on the Premier League title race following Arsenal's back-to-back defeats against West Ham and Fulham. The Gunners have dropped to fourth in the table — being overtaken by Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

The reigning champions are now level on points with Mikel Arteta's side despite playing a game less than them. Arsenal's lack of clinical edge in the final third has seen them drop points in back-to-back games this season and Neville believes a new striker is a must for Arteta this month.

«The issue obviously is at the top end of the pitch whereby they have a problem with putting the ball in the back of the net at this moment in time,» Neville told Sky Sports this week. «The striker is an issue.

“They’ve got two good strikers in Nketiah and Jesus. But they’re both [No.] 2 and [No.] 3 strikers for me, they’re not No.1, and they need that no.1 striker.”

Ivan Toney, Dominic Solanke and Dusan Vlahovic have all been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium — but it's unclear whether the Gunners can afford to make any signings unless they move on a few fringe players.
