Wrexham's New Year's Day clash against Barrow was halted for ten minutes after David Worrall suffered a sickening head injury.
The 33-year-old had to leave the pitch on a stretcher at the Racecourse Ground following a clash of heads.
Medical staff quickly arrived to give him treatment, resulting in play being stopped in the 11th minute.
He was eventually replaced by Luca Stephenson, as fans and players inside the stadium applauded the ex-Millwall midfielder.
Commenting on the injury, Barrow posted on X: «Stoppage in the game.
»Wrexham plays a deep ball to the back post where David Worrall gets up bravely to head it away, but after a clash of heads, he looks in great discomfort and is down. We hope you're OK David."
Hollywood legend Ryan Reynolds — Wrexham's co-owner — was quick to offer his support to the stricken star.
He stated, 'Hoping David Worrall is okay,' while also posting two prayer emojis.
Wrexham meanwhile said: «Play has resumed after David Worrall was stretchered off after a collision. Our thoughts are with you, David.»
In what was a chaotic first half, Barrow took the lead after just 33 seconds and were leading 1-0 at the time of Worrall's injury.
And Wrexham made the most of the added time, as they scored three times to go into the break 3-1 up.
Former Sunderland and Marseille striker Steven Fletcher was on hand to fire in a double.
Meanwhile goal machine Paul Mullin was also on target to bring his tally to 11 for the season in all competitions.
Wrexham went into their home clash a point ahead of Barrow in the League Two table, knowing victory would see them boost their automatic promotion hopes.
