I visited Romania, criss-crossing the country over a week, and this why I think it should be on everyone's travel bucket lists.
I'll be honest Romania was never somewhere that was on my radar to visit. The most I knew about the country was that it was the home of Dracula and, as a former history student, the home of a brutal communist dictatorship during the Cold War. However, during my time at the University of Liverpool one of my housemates and good friends, Adrian, was Romanian and he told us about how the country had so much more to offer than just vampires and communism.
Our interest was piqued and in the summer after third year myself, Adrian and our other housemate Conor visited Romania's capital Bucharest for a long weekend. Flying from Liverpool we enjoyed a fun few days in the capital which included exploring what the city had to offer and sampling its eclectic nightlife scene. We all agreed to reunite to visit Romania again the following summer to see what the rest of the country had to offer and it did not disappoint.

We started our second adventure in Romania in the city of Iași which is also Adrian's hometown. Although the city is relatively small; Iași is known as the 'Cultural Capital' of Romania and boasts attractions such as the aptly named Palace of Culture which includes a number of museums including the oldest and largest art collection in Romania.
