Ajax manager John van 't Schip admits his side are in the market for ex-Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson - but there are complications over a possible move to the Amsterdam outfit. Henderson, 33, opted to leave Anfield this summer as he secured a controversial transfer to Al-Ettifaq.
Henderson spent 12 years with Liverpool before moving to Saudi Arabia in a £12million agreement. However, amid ongoing speculation over his future, the England regular and former Liverpool captain is thought to be pushing for a return to Europe with Ajax among the clubs monitoring his situation.
The former Sunderland midfielder is said to have several potential suitors. Bayern Munich and Juventus have been linked with a swoop for Henderson this month, while Newcastle are also claimed to be in the market for someone to bolster their options in the engine room.

Newcastle have been made to deal with countless injury problems this season. They are also unable to call upon summer signing Sandro Tonali, either, after the former AC Milan midfielder was given a global ban due to betting breaches - and he will not be available for the Magpies until next term.
Henderson continues to be earmarked as a possible stop-gap replacement for him.
Ajax have, meanwhile, gone on record to confirm their interest. Speaking about Henderson, manager Van 't Schip told ESPN: "There's serious talk going on with Henderson.
"He still has some things to arrange in Saudi Arabia. It could be a nice match. It's no secret that we could really use that type of player. Other guys can benefit from that."
