Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will feature against Tottenham this weekend after missing the last few weeks with a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old hobbled off in the second half of the 3-0 win against Aston Villa at the start of September which saw him miss international duty with England.
Alexander-Arnold is a key figure in Klopp's Liverpool team with his passing abilities utilised expertly by Klopp in the last few months by having him invert to play a central role when in possession. His absence has forced a tactical shift with Joe Gomez pushed out to right-back while both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have shared a holding midfield role.
However, that forced switch looks set to come to an end soon with Alexander-Arnold spotted back in Liverpool training. Understandably, his availability for this weekend was therefore an obvious topic in Klopp's pre-Tottenham press conference with the Liverpool boss revealing he will be involved.
«Trent trained yesterday normal,» he told our sister title Liverpool Echo. «Will train today normal. We have to make a decision. It looks like he will be in the squad and play.» Klopp also confirmed that Stefan Bajcetic suffered a setback after making his return in the Europa League last week while Thiago and Conor Bradley remain out.
Injury problems are also in play at Tottenham with Postecoglou sweating on the fitness of James Maddison, with Brennan Johnson also a slight doubt. Son Heung min also entered the North London Derby not at 100 per cent but no issues appear to be prominent for the Tottenham captain.
