Jurgen Klopp has revealed what has held Wataru Endo back since joining Liverpool last month.
The Japan international came on as a substitute late on in the Reds’ 3-1 victory over West Ham as he was handed his first appearance since completing a shock move to Anfield from VfB Stuttgart last month.
However, despite starting Liverpool’s win against LASK Linz on Thursday, the 30-year-old has navigated a challenging start to life at Anfield.
But despite his limited impact so far, Klopp insisted that Endo is continuing to improve and will play a big role for the Reds in the season ahead.

“He (Endo) was good as well! He needs to get used to the things here,” the German told reporters. “A super guy, very calm, very polite and that cost him the first two weeks maybe.
“Now he is getting there. He is not dirty, trying to get people out of the way to get in the team. Every day he is improving and we saw that today.
“He is there. He will help us a lot and he will play games. He will start games. It is all good.
“He had already three or four games for us in a very short period. He is not a short-term project. A super important part of the squad and I am really happy to have him.”
