Liverpool defender agrees new contract after injury nightmare

Liverpool defender Conor Bradley has signed a new long-term contract at Anfield.

The 20-year-old made his return to first-team action during their 4-0 win over LASK on Thursday, following injury.

Bradley reached a new landmark in his recovery from a stress fracture in his back. The issue curtailed the defender's first-team chances after a promising pre-season followed a strong season-long loan with Bolton Wanderers.

Bradley made the move to Merseyside in 2019 from Dungannon United and made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup against Norwich City in September 2021. His showings with the Trotters in League One saw him further assert himself as a selection option for the Northern Ireland senior squad.

So far on the international stage, he has been capped 13 times adding to the six competitive outings under Jurgen Klopp.

"I was hoping we scored more so I could get on but buzzing to be back. It's been a frustrating and long months out injured. I just had a sore back, done a running session in the morning, had a sore back got a scan and had a stress fracture. It was a hard one to take, thankfully I'm back and happy," said Bradley after making his first-team return.

"I was really enjoying pre-season, thought I was doing well. It was a difficult time, worked hard, got myself back and buzzing to be back."

The Reds boss was delighted to see the 20-year-old return to the fray in his bid to challenge the defensive ranks after the frustrating setback.

"With Conor it is a real shame, to be honest. Conor did really well. But things like this happen," he initially said in July.
