Liverpool have been fined by the FA for ill-discipline in their loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Liverpool finished the game with nine men, having seen both Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota sent off, as a Joel Matip own-goal in the 96th minute saw them fall to a 2-1 defeat. However, the main talking point from a controversial encounter was Luis Diaz incorrectly having a goal ruled out for offside after a "significant human error" between the officials and VAR team.
The PGMOL would admit the mistake after the game, with referees chief Howard Webb contacting Liverpool to apologise. The Reds would respond with a statement on Sunday night, declaring the PGMOL’s failures resulted in "sporting integrity being undermined", and that the club will "explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution."
But such officiating errors have not saved Liverpool from being fined by the FA for their ‘ill-discipline’ in the capital.
